Floral Letter Painting

This is an easy, fun painting activity. It involves mixing colours which children love experimenting with. The result looks very pretty because the colours are kept tone in tone. (Which might please you if you - like me - are a visual perfectionist and have nightmares about brown play dough.) You can either let your child use a brush or their fingers depending on the age of your child and how much messy fun you can handle today.

Here is what you'll need for the floral letter painting:

ree
  • green , blue and white paint (or any others colour if you prefer) If you choose to finger paint make sure the paint is safe for your child's skin.

  • a light blue A4 card sheet (or matching the colours of paint you choose)

  • paint brush

  • containers to mix the paint in

How to:

ree

Start by painting a large green letter on the card.

In your containers mix various shades of blue by adding different amounts of white and blue paint.

Paint flower petals in your different blue tones along the line of your letter using a brush or your fingers. Keep mixing shades of blue as you fill your picture.

ree

Leave to dry a little bit and finish with white or light blue dots in the middle of each flower and leave to dry again.

The painting works nicely with other colours too. We chose blue initially because Forget-me-nots are one of Alice's and my favourite flowers.

Happy painting! Leave a comment if your kids had fun and liked this activity!
